Therapy

On the weekends, I have my coffee and read the paper with Clovis.  I bring him his breakfast and I sit on the floor next to him while he eats. Sometimes he'll come sit next to me to be petted. I wish you could feel how soft  he is.  Just like velvet.

I like to give him a face and head massage. I close my hand over his head and pet him from the tip of his nose to the tips of his ears. I give his ears a little tug. Then I massage the bones on the top and sides of his head.  He loves it.  So do I.  It's relaxation therapy for both of us.

Dali

Last year the Two Vaults gallery in Tacoma hosted a group show called "Rabbitual". The artwork had to have a rabbit in it, and the rabbit had to be a little on the dark side. I really wanted to enter but drawing a soft cuddly little rabbit on the dark side was a stretch for me. I went through all my rabbit photos and came up with one of Clovis that reminded me of the artist, Salvador Dali.

I think it's a little more on the silly side than the dark side but I had fun with it anyway.  It was accepted into the show along with two others. Playing on the name Salvador Dali, I titled this piece, Rabbidor Dali...
Do you see a resemblance?

Rabbit Lady

The Western Washington Fair is big in our area and there are some very talented artists who enter the juried art show. My work has been accepted every year for the last ten years. The fair has a miniature art category in which I love to participate.  The outside frame measurement cannot exceed 35 square inches so the artwork itself is pretty small. This is perfect for someone like me who has a full time job and can't dedicate too much time for art.

My favorite subject is, of course, no surprise.  In fact, some of the fair volunteers refer to me as the rabbit lady.  I have sold many of my rabbit minis and won a ribbon or two. "Belgian Hare", of which I am particularly fond, took third place in 2004.

Blue Bunny

Clovis has a room of his own.  I have an old wooden chair in there that I draped with some fuzzy blue fabric and a purple towel. He spends a lot of his day under the chair. It's like a little fort.

One morning the sun was shining through a gap in the fabric and created some interesting visuals; his little orange lips, the vivid blue, the contrast of his white chest and the dark shadows. Those little jowls-so very soft.

Happy Easter!

Clovis plays the Easter bunny but is slightly confused.  He thinks he is supposed to hide, not hide the eggs...
