Ice Storm

We've had a rough weather week.  It started out with lots of beautiful snow then progressed to freezing rain followed by high winds.  The fir trees were really weighted down with snow and ice.  We could hear the branches snapping as they broke; it looked like a war zone around here with tree boughs and branches everywhere.  So many trees are now disfigured. Fortunately we had only one tree that sustained major damage.

Broken branches lead to downed power lines.  We were powerless for three days.  We had hot water, a gas fireplace and our barbeque so we managed.

We brought Clovie's cage in next to the fireplace to keep him warm and Minnow cat parked herself there too. We wore three layers of clothing, played games, worked on puzzles and read books in the dark with our book lights. So we managed.

Clovis was such a good bunny. He was cooped up in his cage but he seemed content to be there.  I let him out once for some exercise and he kicked up his heels and got a good workout.

I sure hope this was the worst of our winter.

Three days?! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

We were without power for 18 hours back in that big October storm and I thought that was unbearable--then again, we don't have a fireplace, we have an oil furnace that is powered by electricity. When we lose power, we lose heat.

Glad you all managed to stay warm and somewhat happy.

That sounds bad, but you seem to have been able to cope well with it!

Oh, I am sorry to hear! Clovie and Minnow do not look any worse for the wear! They look pretty well cared for! Hoping for a early spring for you!

Glad ya'll made it through the storm. The weather has been so incredibly crazy for the past few years!

Glad you came through. Everyone looks cozy. I always think of Jimmy Buffett song "Boat Drinks" in times like that! Son works for Seattle City Light but lives on Mercer Island. He said the Mayor said all city employees should report for work but stay off the roads! (I think he got a bus.)

For once we lost no power. We have mostly propane heat, stove, hot water - so we can get along pretty well.

Yuck I hate this kind of weather. We had it a couple of years ago. 4 days without power and I bought a generator before the next one. I wish I had a fireplace....give Clovie kisses.

I am sorry to hear you spent three days without power in the dead of winter, but glad that at least you have a fireplace. Weather has been crazy this year, hasn't it? I hope this is the worst of it for you.

At least you got some breathtakingly beautiful photos!

We were lucky up this way in Everett, kept our power on, but lots of snow. Glad it's almost gone! I was thinking about you when I read you'd lost power. So glad you are back to normal. Great way to spend your evenings, books and bunns. : )

Ugh, we've been through ice storms and it isn't much fun. Glad you got through the power outage well. Minnow looks cozy by the fire, as does your Clovis, the Bunloaf.

Clovie is an almost perfect egg shape!
