Turn Up the Heat!

Hey, could you bump it up a notch or two?

It's a little nippy here in our neck of the woods. Sometimes I catch Clovis sitting next to the heat vent in his room. Took me awhile to figure out but I'm pretty sure he sits there to get toasty.

Smart boy...

Music

Clovie Relaxes to Pyramid Affair from Cairo Time Soundtrack
Last weekend when Clovis was getting his teeth trimmed, Dr. Heather commented on how calm he was.  She thought it was the music they were playing. And it got me to thinking as we were driving home that the sorrowful notes resonating from Itzhak Perlman's violin on the Schindler's List soundtrack I was playing could have mellowed him out.

My daughter told me about Grooveshark, a website where you can select music and make playlists.  So on weekends now when I sit with Clovie while he has his breakfast, I bring my coffee, paper, and laptop and play the mellow songs from my Grooveshark playlist.

We skip over Muse, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry...

Clovie Day

While I was away on family matters Clovis' needs got placed on the back burner.  So yesterday was Clovie Day.  I spent the greater part of Saturday doing things just for him.  We started with our weekend morning coffee and paper together time while Clovie ate his breakfast, then drove to his monthly tooth and toenail trim with Dr. Heather.  When we got home, I addressed the mites with a dose of Revolution.  Then I washed all of his bedding, rugs, his cage, and gave his room a good cleaning while he roamed the house.

When Clovis was little I was looking at bunny stuff online and saw the cardboard condos you could buy for about $25.  I'm a little on the cheap side (and I have the "I could make that" attitude/flaw) so I decided to build my own.  It was quite a project but I was proud of my results. Well, after 4 years and a lot of wear and tear I figured Clovis was due for a new condo so I went to work.  He hasn't really embraced it yet but I expect he will be chewing the doors off in no time, especially after his teeth have grown a few centimeters.

At the end of the day Clovis got a good meal, a few oats with his pellets, more time to roam the house, and blueberries when I tucked him in.  Not a bad day for a bun. And I felt good (and tired) at the end of Clovie Day.

For Dad

I said good-bye to my Dad last week. He was just shy of 90. As we were preparing for his memorial service, my brother found this photo, circa 1948.  It took our breath away. No wonder our Mother fell in love with him.

My Dad was a kind, gentle man.  He wasn't a demonstrative person; he showed his love through his actions, things he did with us and for us.  And in that manner I felt very loved.

Thank you, Dad. I will miss you.
