Fair Season

Fall is here. I am sorry to see Summer go; I think it is my favorite season. I like the transition of one season to the next too. Winter to Spring - the early flowers, things greening up and brighter skies. Spring to Summer - longer, warm days and open windows. The flowers! Summer to Fall - crickets in late August, cool foggy mornings and warm, sunny afternoons and the turning of leaves. Fall to Winter - stormy skies and rain, (that's right, I do like stormy skies and rain...) and cozying up inside.

Fall means the art show at the Fair.  This year I entered two miniatures, an acrylic painting of a cat named Gracie, and a colored pencil of my favorite subject. Gracie is about 3" x 4.5". Clovis is matted to a size of 2.5" x 3.5".

What's your favorite season and why?

Despite the heat, summer is my favorite month. From the time I was five years old until I was eighteen, I got to spend my summers with my older sister and her husband. She was 18 years older than I and like a second mother to me. They lived in interesting places and always took me on wonderful vacations. I loved summer. Still do.

Wonderful work, Sue. I love both of them.

summer when its nice and Speedy can get to play out side and winter because I get the run up to Christmas which I love as it brings back lots of memories from being a child and its the only time I get to be a kid again

Fall is my favorite season. I love the colors, the smells, the crunch of walking on leaves. Pumpkins and mums and the crisp evenings.

Fall, definately. Summer is ok for about six weeks, then I am wishing for October. I love cold weather. I love making comforting winter meals like big roasts, tamales, stews, soups, pots of chili, breads, cookies...You simply cannot and SHOULD not cook in the summer unless it's outside cooking, but Oklahoma ALWAYS has a burn-ban in Summer and fall because of the high winds and dry vegetation. I love winter. I love spring. It has been so hot in Oklahoma this summer that it is a nice change to actually have temps in the high 90's instead of the 100's. The other day it rained a little and I saw a whole flock of starlings in the puddles bathing and drinking. My heart broke. Poor thirsty things. Of course, when it rains in Oklahoma, you fear tornados and when the temp is below freezing, we get ice instead of snow. Terrible weather! Even the nice days with the sun shining and the temp just right, you suffer the wind!

Oh gosh -- no best favorite I guess. Good luck at the fair.
