Rabbit Lady

The Western Washington Fair is big in our area and there are some very talented artists who enter the juried art show. My work has been accepted every year for the last ten years. The fair has a miniature art category in which I love to participate.  The outside frame measurement cannot exceed 35 square inches so the artwork itself is pretty small. This is perfect for someone like me who has a full time job and can't dedicate too much time for art.

My favorite subject is, of course, no surprise.  In fact, some of the fair volunteers refer to me as the rabbit lady.  I have sold many of my rabbit minis and won a ribbon or two. "Belgian Hare", of which I am particularly fond, took third place in 2004.

Hi, I do miniatures too and your blog came up on my google alert. I love the story about Clovis. I've been adding a rabbit to some of my work. There is a former domestic rabbit not far from where I live that my husband sees when he goes for a run. I've been able to slowly get close enough for photos! He is also white with black spots. Good luck at the fair. Is it the Puyallup Fair? I'm north of Seattle.

Hello, Barbara! Thank you for your comment!

Yes, it is the Puyallup Fair. I've seen your beautiful work at the Parklane Gallery website. Love the sheep... I'm going to enter their miniature show this year.

Thank you and good luck at Parklane! I'll look for your work. Let me know which it is. Will it be a Clovis piece? One of my submissions is a rabbit in silverpoint. I hope it gets in. My latest on my blog, not a miniature at 7" x 7", is in graphite with two rabbits.

Good luck to you too! I'm sure your work will be accepted. I'm entering two pieces, both rabbits and yes, one is a drawing of Clovis. I'll post it on my blog one of these days.

Your silverpoint drawings are so interesting! I worked with silverpoint in college so many years ago and haven't seen it anywhere since.
