Who's Fooling Whom?

I think Clovis and I are playing a game with his pellets.  He gets a quarter cup of pellets at around 7:30 every night, and when I put him to bed at around 10:30 there are usually a few left at the bottom of the bowl.  On weekends I stay up later so by the time I tuck him in they are gone.  I can't bring myself to put him to bed with nothing in his little crock so I always sprinkle in a few more.

Since his issue with cecotropes, I have been very strict about the amount. I decided to cut back just a bit so that if he does eat them all I don't worry about adding a few more when I put him to bed. Now, I'm convinced he makes a point of gobbling them all up every night before bedtime because he knows he'll get some more.  He must think he's fooling me.  But since I'm not giving him the whole quarter cup to begin with, I'm pretty sure I've got him fooled.

Smart boy! (I switched to OxBow and the problems went away! Jamal's bottom is squeaky clean now! And, he gets probably more pellets and more salad and more bananas than he should, but for some reason, he tolerates those Oxbow pellets better...)

Ahh yes, the games we play with our bunnies. I actually give a lot of pellets. I use the Oxbow as well. They both love them. After the last 5 years of poop and gut issues in my bunnies, I have found that the less veggies and treats and the more hay and pellets, the better their poop. Neither one of them is fat.

I have had so much trouble with my Mr. Jamal's bottom ... it gets so messy! But, since the Oxbow, we do the "happy clean bottom dance" quite often. and, any bunny mommy who has had to give constant butt baths for years will understand why a clean bottom is cause for a happy dance!!!

i believe rabbits are nocturnal, but most active at dawn and dusk - so they need to have plenty of food to eat at night...they are like human babies where they need to eat every so often...we give ours unlimited romaine lettuce and carrots to wear down the teeth - never had to cut our rabbit's teeth...ours also like to bite on cardboard, mail, and other paper - even a paper towel empty roll (cut into 2-3" is a good toy for them to chew on - and i've been teaching tricks with stuff like that too...
