Discerning Palate

I am still so happy about the switch we made last year to the Oxbow pellets. Clovie, well, still not so happy. I compromise by mixing in a heaping tablespoon of his old favorite brand. One of these days I am going to run out and then what?  Heaven forbid he should be deprived. I'll probably buy some more.

He gets so darned excited for his pellets! He'll run around my feet as I'm filling his bowl then stop to bite the toe of my left shoe twice as if to hurry me up. Amidst his crazy eights, I slide my feet over to the rug where I feed him so I don't step on him and set his bowl down.

He dives in and his little head circles the bowl until he finds a piece of the old brand. I don't know how he knows the difference. Discerning palate I guess.  The same palate that leaves one little wilted piece of lettuce on the plate because it's a little too far gone.

Mick is the same way with the rolled oats I mix in withb his pellets; he will pick every single piece of oats out of there before he eats the pellets. He will mug you for oats.

I love Clovie's whiskers in this picture.

Love that boy! Everything you share with us makes him just that much more perfect! My bunnies do that crazed rabbit dance thing for bananas or craisins.

Clovie is a rabbit - that's why the pellet deal. See? Besides, he is a Czech rabbit would would not dare eat the plate clean and let the hostess think she had not served enough.

Pellets, pellets, pellets...that's all Harrington thinks about too. He loves his Oxbow though.

Mine have been eating horse pellets ... but grudgingly! The pellets aren't huge. They're bigger than OxBow but not by much ... and they're just Timothy hay with no addititives. They'll eat them as a last resort ... Not fond of them at all though. These are the only other pellets besides OxBow that do not cause a messy bottom.

Ahhhh, the good old 'meal-time-shuffle' I know it well, my 4 are ninjas in disguise - Me? not so much! Goodluck, hopefully he will warm to the oxbow enough to let the old brand go (well we can hope) xx Yollie
